Chemical Garden:
3 TBS salt
3 TBS bluing
3 TBS water
2 TBS ammonia
1 piece coal or other porous object
Food Coloring
Mix ingredients together. Pour mixture over coal. Add food coloring.

Clay for baking: This recipe is used to make pumpkin necklaces, Christmas ornaments, and the childrens initials.
4 cups flour
1 ½ cups water
1 ½ cups salt
Food coloring
Add food coloring to water. Mix together flour and salt. Combine dry mixture with colored water. Knead dough until moldable. Create desired shape. We place molded clay on wax paper on a cookie sheet. Cook for 1 hour at 300 degrees.

Rabbits Carrot Salad: 2 Cups grated carrots
½ Cup raisins
1 TBS lemon juice
2 TBS mayonnaise
Mix ingredients together and serve.

Sunflower Seed Snack: Toasted sunflower seeds

Mix ingredients.

Rabbit Faces: Lettuce leaf
Pear half
2 Raisins
2 Sliced carrots
2 Thinly sliced carrots or celery
½ Cherry
1 TBS cottage cheese
Place the lettuce leaf on a plate. Put the pear half on the lettuce upside down. Use the raisins as eyes, carrots as ears, thinly sliced carrots for whiskers, cherry for the nose, and cottage cheese as the tail.

Ivory Snow Snowmen: 4 cups Ivory Snow Flakes
Several drops of water
Add drops of water to Ivory Snow until the mixture becomes moldable. Place on wax paper. Can bring snowman into bath tub for further enjoyment!

Banana Nog: 1cup milk
1 egg
1 banana
1 scoop ice cream
Mix ingredients in blender. Makes 2 cups.

Firecraker drink: 1 six ounce can frozen grape juice
4 cups lemon-lime soda
1 pint vanilla ice cream
Blend juice and soda and pour into 4 to 6 glasses. Serve with a straw.

Treats for Birds: Pumpernickel bread
Cream cheese
Use heart shape cookie cutter to cut hearts from bread. Hang hearts on trees for birds. Spread cream cheese on scraps for a tasty snack.
I made some valentines from bread and hung them on a tree. The hearts all said to the hungry birds, This treats for you from me!.

Turkey Sandwich: Rye bread
Soft orange cheese
Carrot strips
Red and green pepper strips
Celery strips
Use a turkey cookie cutter to cut out turkey shape from rye bread. Spread the cheese on the turkey, and use vegetable strips to decorate the tail.

Applesauce: 6 Apples
1 Cup water
Sugar
Cinnamon
Peel and cut up apples. Bring the cut up apples to a boil and simmer until soft. Add sugar and cinnamon for taste. Cool before eating.

Bear Biscuits: 10 Ounce tube refrigerated biscuits
Raisins
Maraschino cherries
Honey
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Separate biscuits. Cut 3 biscuits into eighths. Leave 6 whole. For each bear biscuit, round 3 of the small dough pieces for the ears and nose. Firmly press onto face (whole biscuit). Press in raisins for eyes and nose. Add ¼ cherry to each ear. Bake on a cookie sheet for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Enjoy with honey, of course!

Grape Slush: ¼ cup frozen grape juice concentrate
¼ cup frozen orange juice
½ cup milk
½ cup vanilla ice cream
1 banana
Mix in blender.

Hot Chocolate: 8 ounces milk
2 TBS Nestle Quick
Marshmallows
Add warmed milk to chocolate. Serve with marshmallows on top.

Punch: Equal amounts of orange juice, ginger ale, and cranberry juice
Orange sherbet
Mix liquids together. Pour into a glass. Serve with a scoop of sherbet on top.

Cinnamon Snails: 1 Slice whole wheat bread
Cream cheese
Butter
3 TBS sugar
1 ½ tsp cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spread cream cheese on bread while waiting for butter to melt. Roll up bread slice and cut into 3 pieces. Combine sugar and cinnamon. Dip bread pieces in melted butter and roll in sugar mixture. Place on cookie sheet and bake for 12 minutes.

Powdered sugar
Mix cinnamon and sugar together and sprinkle on buttered toast.

Cookie Monster Dough: 1 ½ Sticks butter 1 Cup sugar 2 Eggs 1 tsp vanilla 2 ½ Cups flour 1 TBS baking powder Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add flour and baking powder to mixture. Roll dough until it is ¼ inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters, place on cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes

Corn Muffins: ¼ Cup all purpose flour
¾ Cup corn meal
¼ Cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 ½ tsp salt
1 Cup skim milk
¼ Cup vegetable oil
1 Egg
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine ingredients. Pour batter into cupcake tins and cook for 20 to 25 minutes.

Sipping Cider: 6 cups apple cider
1 cinnamon stick
Cloves
Dash of nutmeg
Orange slice
Heat apple cider. Add dry ingredients to flavor. Serve with orange slice on top.

Apple Mouths: Red apple
Peanut butter
Tiny marshmallows
Slice red apple without removing the skin. Spread two slices with peanut butter. Put marshmallows on one slice. Place two slices together. The result will be a mouth with teeth.

Banana Sticks: Banana

Graham cracker crumbs
Popsicle sticks
Slice banana and place on a stick. Spread with peanut butter and roll in graham cracker crumbs.

Dinosaur Soup: 4 Cups chicken bouillon
Celery
Potato
Onion
Carrot
Pepper
Tomato
Pasta
Peel and cut up potato, celery, onion, carrot, pepper, and tomato. Add to bouillon and cook for 20 minutes. Add pasta and cook for 15 minutes more.

Gingerbread Men: 1 Cup brown sugar
¾ Cup butter or oil
2 Eggs
½ Cup molasses
¼ tsp salt
3 Cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
½ tsp cloves
1 ½ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp nutmeg
Mix together brown sugar, butter, eggs, molasses and 1 tsp of baking soda. Separately mix together flour, salt, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and remaining baking soda. Combine mixtures. Refrigerate dough for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Form men with hands. Use raisins for eyes. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes.

Hedgehog's Yellow Cake: ¾ Cup sugar
½ Cup butter
3 Eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 ¼ Cups self-rising flour
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 9-inch round pan. Mix sugar and butter together in a bowl. Add eggs, one by one. Add vanilla. Mix in flour. Put batter into pan and bake for 30 minutes

Hot Dog in a Roll: Package of refrigerated crescent rolls
Hot Dogs
Preheat oven to specified temperature on crescent roll package. Wrap a hot dog in a crescent roll and bake for 10 minutes.

Pinch of salt
Put heavy cream in a tight container that is not glass and shake vigorously until it separates. Pour off the liquid which is buttermilk. Add the salt to the butter.

Butterfly Bites: 3 Stalks celery

6 TBS spreadable cheddar cheese

Cut celery stalks in half crosswise. Fill each piece of celery with 1 TBS of cheese. Add 2 twist pretzels for wings. Use pieces of pretzels for antennae and raisins for decoration.

Monkey Bread: ¼ Cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
4 Tubes buttermilk biscuits
¾ Cup brown sugar
1½ sticks butter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Put ¼ cup of sugar and ½ tsp of cinnamon in a paper bag. Cut each biscuit into quarters. Put biscuits (a few at a time) in bag and shake to coat. Place biscuits in a greased bundt pan. In a saucepan bring butter to a boil and add ¾ cup of brown sugar and ½ tsp of cinnamon. Pour sauce over biscuits and bake for 35 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes and turn upside down onto plate.

Pour milk into three glasses. Color each glass of milk with a different color. Using the colored milk as paint, paint the bread with a paintbrush. Make a monster face! Toast the bread and eat.

Green olives
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spread pizza sauce onto half of an English muffin. Sprinkle with cheese and sliced green olives. Bake until cheese is browned.

Pumpkin Cookies: ½ Cup butter
¾ Cup honey
1 Egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 Cup cooked or canned pumpkin
2 ½ Cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Cream together the butter and honey. Beat in the egg, vanilla, and pumpkin. Sift together the dry ingredients and add to pumpkin mixture. Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Make faces with raisins after the cookies come out of the oven.

Pumpkin Seeds: Save seeds when cutting a Jack-O-Lantern. Wash the seeds. Cook washed seeds in a frying pan with a small amount of oil. Drain on a paper towel. Salt lightly.

1 ¼ Cup sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp nutmeg
½ tsp salt
Pinch of cloves
1 Egg
1/3 Cup water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine dry ingredients in a small bowl. Mix the butter, egg, pumpkin, and water in a large bowl. Add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture. Bake for 25 to 35 minutes. Makes 16 muffins.

No Bake Cookies: ½ cup of honey
½ cup of peanut butter
1 cup powdered milk
Graham cracker crumbs
Mix ingredients together. Form balls and roll in graham cracker crumbs. Place on wax paper.

No Cook Grape Jam: 2 cups grape juice
4 cups sugar
2 TBS water
½ bottle of pectin
Mix the juice and sugar together and allow to stand for 10 minutes. Mix the water and pectin separately. Add pectin mixture to juice mixture. Stir for 3 minutes and pour into jars. Sets in 24 hours.

Pretzels: 1 Package yeast
1½ Cups warm water
1 TBS salt
4 Cups flour
1 Beaten egg
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Add the yeast to the water. Combine the flour and salt. Pour the water into the flour mixture and knead dough until smooth. Form pretzels and brush with beaten egg. Sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes.

Red Hen's Bread: 2 ½ Cups whole wheat flour
½ Cup wheat germ
2 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
2 cups buttermilk
2 TBS oil
¼ cup honey
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In large bowl, mix buttermilk, oil, and honey. Sift together wheat flour, wheat germ, baking soda, and salt and add to honey mixture. Pour into a greased loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour.
(1 ½ cups of white flour and 1 cup of wheat flour may be substituted for 2 ½ cups of wheat flour)

Rice Chex Mix: ½ Stick butter
½ tsp Seasoned salt
2 TBS Worcestershire sauce
Peanuts
Pretzels
2 Cups rice Chex
2 Cups wheat Chex
2 Cups Cheerios
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Melt the butter in a roasting pan, and add the salt and Worcestershire sauce. Combine the remaining ingredients together and mix with butter in roasting pan. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring often

Snowflakes: 12 (6-inch) flour tortillas
Oil for frying
Powdered sugar
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Stack tortillas and wrap in foil. Heat at 350 degrees for 7 minutes to soften. Fold each tortilla into fourths. With scissors, cut designs from folded edges; unfold.
In heavy skillet, heat ½ inch of oil over medium heat. Fry 1 tortilla at a time for 20 to 30 seconds on each side or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Cool completely. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Store in tightly covered container.

Stega Nona Pasta: Strega Nona Pasta
4 Cups flour
4 Large eggs
1 tsp salt (optional)
1 tsp oil (optional)
Makes 1½ pounds. Add all ingredients in mixing bowl. Turn on machine. Put pasta in boiling water and stir to separate pieces. Boil gently for 3 to 5 minutes or until done. Pasta can be stored in refrigerator for 1 day. Pasta can be stored in plastic bags in freezer for up to a month. Pasta may be dried in a single layer on a tray.

2/3 Cup oil
2 tsp vanilla
¾ Cup sugar
2 Cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine ingredients and drop by spoonful on cookie sheet. Sprinkle the tops with colored sugar. Bake for 8 minutes.

Three Bear's Porridge: 1¾ Cup water
1 TBS cinnamon
1 1/3 Cup rolled oats
1 Cup milk
½ tsp salt
¼ cup raisins
2 TBS wheat germ
Honey or brown sugar
Bring water, salt, cinnamon, and raisins to a boil. Add oats and wheat germ and reduce heat to low. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes. Makes 3 full bowls. Add milk and honey or brown sugar.
